The challenge

Oldham Council wanted to reach out to their smaller community groups which do not readily access existing support. They asked UNI to provide a bespoke training programme to meet local needs.

The Approach

Our task was to identify community groups, get them involved with planning the training programme, then deliver the programme and measure the impact. The timescale for the project was three months.
Our team provided a range of bespoke training across community networks. The topics included, project management, community development, raising finance, business planning, enterprise and constituting a group.

The Results:

  • We development a local database identifying 407 community groups which was an increase of 12% in groups previously unknown to support organisations
  • We provided 30 training sessions for 170 people
  • Impact Assessment highlighted use of learning into practice by participants
  • A training package to share with Oldham GP Practice staff has also been developed
