This short course is designed as a non-accredited awareness raising course that can help support and develop a safety – conscious behaviour within individuals. It focuses not simply on the legislation but on the practical benefits of developing a safety culture throughout an organisation. It is suitable to those new to organisational safety within small social enterprises, charities and any small organisation that wishes to raise its team’s safety awareness.
The HSE recognises the importance of training as their guidance explains ‘The law requires that you provide whatever information, instruction and training is needed to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of your employees’ The indicative content includes:
- Understanding a Health & Safety Policy – what it means
- Individual responsibilities for health and safety
- The law and Health & Safety
- Understanding Risk Assessments
- Keeping people safe
- COSHH – what does it mean to me?
- Key areas for consideration – what should we focus on?
The only entry requirements are an open mind and a willingness to learn.
